MiePie
MiePie is a fun little game where the creature tries to eat as much pie as possible before it gets eaten by the alligator mouth. A good waste of time diversion.

Ok. Just checked out My Leaves and it was even more fun.

Been spending a little bit of time in Lansing this week. Not as much as the wife, tho.

Contemporary
Found some interesting contemporary art I thought I'd share.
Stolen gum
When I was about 10 years old, some neighborhood friends and I biked to a convenient store about 3 miles from my home. The purpose of this trip became clear when they all bragged they could take something from the store without paying for it. Within about 5 minutes, we left the store and I biked home with a green pack of gum in my hand that I didn't pay for. I was a delinquent for a day. It doesn't bother me that I stole the gum, not too much, at least. But I find it tremendously fascinating that I remember the color of the pack of gum. Research shows that adrenaline can help improve memory and I'm certain my memory of this event benefited (?!) from this hormone. But now I get to thinking how I don't have a lot of childhood memories from my years prior to 7th grade--did I have a lack of adrenaline in my life? or a lot of bad stress? Again, it would take years of therapy to figure this one out.

Faster than two back hoes
Rocking my son last night on the rocker, he turned and in a dreamy state proclaimed: "I can run faster than two back hoes." Then he positioned himself and went back to sleep. Ah, the dreams of a 4-year-old.

Found an interesting falling sand game.

Got a lot of stuff I needed for Christmas and a few things I don't need. I still think that it makes no sense for adults to receive anything for the holidays. I did buy a calendar and a Simpson's Duff Beer Mug. He appreciated the mug the most.

If I don't write in the next few days, best to you all for the new year.

Chicago and Hobbes
Going to Chicago tomorrow with the wife and kids. It'll be a short little trip to say "hi" to my folks and deliver a few Christmas gifts. I look forward to the trip, but it will be quick. I'll be able to see my brother who is in town, and maybe take in a few beers at Chili's. Sometimes I complain that they don't visit me enough in Michigan, and sometimes they complain I don't spend enough time with them in Chicago. The truth is that we each spend as much time with each other as we can invest. I guess I did visit my brother in Florida last spring, but who's counting?

Visit two Calin and Hobbes Snow Art Galleries: here and here. They might be the same, but I haven't completed my research on it yet.

Fly Guy
Stayed home yesterday with my son, who was fighting a little cold & drippy nose & the nasty cough. During the day, he got on the computer to play some computer games and navigated to Fly Guy. It's a game that doesn't do much, but still quite entertaining for a 4 year-old.

No plans today except to clean the house and make a decision if we want the soccer team over for a little post-season party. A lot depends on our son's health.

Whine, wine
I found an interesting web site that teaches how to make wine. It is aptly called "Into Wine". I'm having a little wine and cheese get together this Saturday after the soccer game and my hope is that I have a few more than 8 people. I guess if I count the kids and the baby-sitter, that number should be hard to reach.

Now, on the subject, I've been complaining a lot lately. The most salient complaint, in my head at least, occurred during the game last Saturday. I was beat by one of the best soccer players I've ever played against--she put a move on me that sent me to the ground--on a related topic, I need some serious indoor soccer shoes--and as I landed on the ground, I shouted in her direction, "That is just not fair!" It took me a second and a half to get up and shout out "Good move," and as our goalie received the ball, he told me to get off the field if I was too tired to play. I don't know if I was too tired, but I got off the field.

My wife says that I should control my emotions more on the soccer field. I say that I play soccer so that I can be emotional for an hour per week.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
The wife and I saw The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe last night. I enjoyed the cinematography and the storyline, but I never felt that I lost myself in the movie, I didn't experience the suspension of disbelief for long. When we got out of the movie, we agreed that it wouldn't be appropriate for our 7-year-old daughter. I guess you could say it was an adult movie disguised as a children's movie.

We were blanketed with 5 inches of snow Friday morning. I still made it to work, after shoveling the driveway at 6:00 a.m. School was cancelled, so my daughter went to work with the wife, but pre-school was open four our son. Today is Saturday, and if it warms up a little, it might be a perfect day for that annual snowball fight with my kids and the neighbor's kids.

Ever check out songfacts.com?

Check out this site that will list anagrams for any word or string you desire. I entered "tumbarello" and much to my surprise, one possible anagram is "beat roll mu"!! and of course "lab mole rut", which might be a cousin to the species I have in the back yard.

Be sure to check out neosupervital, and their (his) single "Rachel"

And finally, a lame stress game.

Bigfoot is back!
He's back. We've been waiting for years for news about his latest whereabouts and exploits, and finally, finally, bigfoot is back in the news.

In the throws of planning a small wine and cheese get together for the soccer team. The big deal is that I'm planning this event and have no anxiety that the kids will be awake at 8:00 p.m. and they might require some extra care as they try to sleep that night. I think we'll keep the baby-sitter around for a few hours after we get back from the game.

I can't remember if I've posted this childhood game, but when I was a kid, me and my brother and sister would heat up these little creatures and them smash them up again. Hours of fun with the Strange Change Machine. Looks like I can buy one on ebay for $16.38. It will be interesting to see what the closing cost is in 2 days and 13 minutes.

Yoda's Cavern is missing
I lost a cd. You might think, "what's the big deal, bud--you just lost a cd?" Well, it's like this--I don't remember losing it or breaking it; I have the jewel case; and I believe it is somewhere it can be found. So I've searched for about 2 weeks looking for this CD, with no luck. It's not at work, not in any of my CD cases, not in the white shelf in the dining room that we have for CDs, not in the basement cabinet or in the basement CD rack, and not in the basement. One place I haven't checked is in the black CD player that is in the basement that we haven't used in about 4 years. It could be in there, but probably not.

I've nicknamed the CD "Yoda's Cavern" because of the artwork on the cover of the CD jacket. If you've seen this CD, you'll agree that the only nickname this CD should ever have is "Yoda's Cavern". The library doesn't carry this CD, so I can't bootleg from there. Napster doesn't carry this CD, even though they carry some other works by this artist. So I'm left with my foggy memories and some warm emotions about the music.

I could purchase another CD from amazon.com or half.com, then I would have a copy to treasure (and backup on my hard drive), but that's not the point. I want to know where that CD is hiding because it is destined to be found more than it is destined to hide. I just wish it would come out of hiding and show itself to me. Then I'll be happy.
