Random Thoughts and Whatnot

Truly amazing
It is truly amazing the extent that little events build to monumental events in one's life. I was wakening up from a little nap this afternoon listening to a conversation with friends of my wife's, my friends, and remarked that I couldn't believe my wife's parents let her go to Mackinac Island back in '87. Then next thing I know, the concept is reduced to "If C hadn't responded to a little ad in the paper, none of the girls would have gone to Mackinac." So I have C to thank for me meeting my wife. But heck, I have Cheryl at U of I to thank for introducing me to Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (not to be confused with ICF the Christian cult), and had I not been involved with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (not the UCF cult), I would have never invited myself to Mackinac Island to preach to the masses, including my future wife, about the virtues of living a Christ centered life.

So I did end up at Mackinac, and my wife as well. I am amazed how we take for granted the little events that contribute to changing our life.

Can you believe these women featured on the Winter Olympics?? Kari Traa. Like give me a break. (oh, here's another of Traa: here.)

So now that I'm doomed for hell, will you mind using this spider web thread to get me out?

Sick, Photoshop, and Star Wars Valentines
I caught a little flu this week, most likely from my son. I am such a wuss when I'm sick and yesterday was no exception. The odd thing is that I know I'm going to make it through this tribulation. The other odd thing is that I'll not play soccer tonight at 10:00 p.m. I might just have to stay home and read some Robin Cook.

We're planning a little family vacation for next week. There is a holidome or two and we're going to be within 60 minutes of our home, in case we need to shoot home for any reason. I'm sorta looking forward to this, since it might be my only relaxing vacation all year.

There is not much else to report. The wife is in a Saturday Photoshop class right now. I'm feeling 1% better than I did an hour ago. My son is on the computer, playing a game at the Dragon Tales web site, and my daughter is setting up horses and fences for some serious roll playing to begin shortly.

I've never heard of Something Awful until this morning, but if you like Star Wars and a Valentine's Day theme, check out A Very Star Wars Valentines, brought to you by Josh Boruff and Photoshop. Please note: there are multiple pages.

A Lot of Time
In the past few days, I've been quiet at www.random-thoughts-and-whatnot.blogspot.com because I've been updating a links page I developed a few years back. If you are a frequent visitor to random-thoughts-and-whatnot, when you visit Lion Links, you will notice many of the links were originally links from this very space.

A few years back I wrote the silliest web page, several pages actually, which purported to review music and introduce readers to musical interpretation, my way. I'm not proud of the writing there, and I wrote like a Freshman in college, but I did learn some baby steps about web publishing and etiquette.

Now I'm still a Freshman in this internet publishing world, but I am a confident Freshman--a man among Men.

Now it would be a disservice to make your life less enriched by this reading, if I don't balance it with some fun. So before you waste more of your work hours here, don't forget to visit The Ant Farm Game.
